West Island
The West Island is an informal name given to the boroughs and municipalities making up the western tip of the Island of Montreal. They consist of Dorval, Pointe-Claire, Beaconsfield, Kirkland, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Baie-D’Urfé, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève and the village of Senneville. These quaint suburban municipalities offer a great quality of life in a clean and quiet environment providing abundant green spaces that are easily accessible to all residents. While each neighborhood is unique, in general the West Island is sought-after for great family homes with steady property value growth, excellent elementary and high schools, the abundance of sporting activities, the proximity to rivers and lake shores, all services nearby and quick access to major roads and public transit.
The area is vastly bilingual and composed of a diverse population, but anglophones still hold a plurality on this end of the Island. The region is home to the Montréal–Trudeau International Airport, John Abbott College, Cégep Gérald-Godin, the Macdonald Campus of McGill University, the Fairview Pointe-Claire and Galeries des Sources malls, as well as Montreal’s largest park, the Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park.
